How to use Import Template Mapper

  1. Load your source CSV (UTF-8) and choose its delimiter. Then load the destination system's header row or a sample import file.
  2. Map each target column to a source column, a constant value, or an intentional blank. "Match exact names" gives you a head start when headers already line up.
  3. Add transformations and rules such as required fields, date formats, allowed values (enums) and uniqueness checks.
  4. Validate, review the rejected rows and their reasons, then download the accepted import file and the rejected-row report.
  5. Save the mapping as a recipe so your next import with the same columns takes seconds.

What people use it for

Frequently asked questions

Is the Import Template Mapper really free?

Yes. It's free to use here in your browser and free to download. There's no account, trial or watermark.

Are my CSV files uploaded anywhere?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and the page blocks it from making any network connection, so your data stays on your device. It keeps data in memory only; reloading the page clears it.

What files does it accept?

UTF-8 CSV files with a delimiter you choose. It does not read Excel (XLSX) files directly: save the sheet as "CSV UTF-8" first. Files in UTF-16 or with invalid characters are rejected with a message so you can re-save them.

How large can my file be?

Up to 10 MiB per CSV, 50,000 data rows, 100 columns and 1,000,000 cells. It has been tested with a 50,000-row, 19-column file in Chrome on Windows.

Can I reuse a mapping next time?

Yes. Save the mapping as a recipe file. Load the same source and target files next time and import the recipe. Recipes require the same column headers in the same order, so a changed export is flagged instead of silently mis-mapped.

What happens to rows that fail validation?

Only valid rows go into the mapped output file. Rejected rows are listed in a separate report with their original values and the reason for each rejection, so you can fix them at the source.

Does a validated file guarantee my import will succeed?

No. The tool checks the rules you set, not the destination system's own business rules. Check that system's current import requirements before you import.

Can I use it offline?

Yes. Click Download to save the tool as a single HTML file, then open it in any current desktop browser, with or without an internet connection.

Private by design

This tool is a single HTML file that runs entirely in your browser. The page that hosts it blocks every outgoing network connection from the tool, so the files you open are processed on your device and are never sent to AppKatz or anyone else. Download it once and it keeps working offline.
