Video Clip Editor
Make short videos right in your browser: trim and join clips, layer video and images, crop for vertical, square or horizontal, mix audio, add titles and captions, remove a green screen, and export MP4 or WebM. Free, private, and your footage never leaves your device.
How to use Video Clip Editor
- Import your local video, image and audio files, then add each one to a track. New clips are added to the end of that track.
- Select a clip to set its start, length and position on the timeline, and adjust crop, placement, volume, fades and filters.
- Split at the playhead, duplicate clips, or close gaps to join clips into one continuous video.
- Add titles or captions and choose a vertical, horizontal or square frame. Play the preview to check it.
- Render, review the exported MP4 or WebM, then download it. Save the project separately if you want to edit again later.
What people use it for

- Joining a few phone clips into one short video with music
- Adding titles and captions to a product demo or announcement
- Replacing a green-screen background with another clip or image
- Making a quick square video for a social post or ad
Frequently asked questions
Is the Video Clip Editor really free?
Yes. It's free to use here in your browser and free to download. There's no account, trial or watermark.
Are my videos uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are decoded, edited and encoded in your browser, and the page blocks the tool from making any network connection. Rendering never sends or publishes your work.
What formats can I export?
MP4 (H.264 video with AAC audio) or WebM (VP8 with Opus), whichever your browser can encode. Output is up to 60 seconds, up to 720p, at 24 or 30 fps with stereo 48 kHz audio.
What files can I import?
Local video, audio and still image files: up to 8 sources, 64 MiB each and 128 MiB in total. Each source can be up to 120 seconds long. Which video formats open depends on your browser and operating system; H.264/AAC MP4 and VP8/Opus WebM are the safest choices.
Which browser do I need?
A current desktop browser that supports WebCodecs, such as recent Chrome or Edge. The tool only offers export formats your browser can actually encode.
Can it add captions automatically?
No. You can type captions or import plain SRT or VTT files, and export them again. There's no automatic transcription, because the tool contains no speech model and makes no network calls.
How does the green screen removal work?
It removes a chosen color by distance, with adjustable tolerance and edge softness. It works best with an evenly lit green or blue background; it doesn't do production-quality hair matting or spill suppression.
Can I save my project and keep editing later?
Yes. Save a project file with your edits; it doesn't contain the media itself. Re-select the same original files when you open it again to relink them.
Can I use it offline?
Yes. Click Download to save the editor as a single HTML file, then open it in a supported desktop browser, with or without an internet connection.
Private by design
This tool is a single HTML file that runs entirely in your browser. The page that hosts it blocks every outgoing network connection from the tool, so the files you open are processed on your device and are never sent to AppKatz or anyone else. Download it once and it keeps working offline.
